Partners in Health

Partners in Health, is a community-based organization headquartered in Boston, but currently provides services in twelve countries – Haiti, Lesotho, Malawi, Peru, Russia, Rwanda, United States, Dominican Republic, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Guatemala, and Burundi. Partners in Health work with the less fortunate by providing health care, affordable treatment and other basic human rights. They also work to improve access to food, shelter, clean water, sanitation, education and economic opportunities. I find this organization the most inspiring as of now, because of how the little things they provide make a difference in someone’s life. I love traveling, and the fact that I could help people in need while exploring and learning about different cultures is fascinating. Also giving hope to those people by providing them with what they need to improve their lives is priceless. The downside of working for this organization has to be the salary, because Partners in Health does not have enough funds, because there are many challenges when it comes to caps on government spending imposed by international financial institutions, but to me it wouldn’t really matter as I have to start somewhere and the best way is to do something I love. Another downside for some people might be the unsafe environments, but these challenges can be rewarded at the end of the day, by knowing that a difference was made. Partners in Health is all about listening, learning and serving.

  1. Partners in Health sounds like a great organization. Any public health organization though is a great organization to be involved with. It is great that they are located not just in the United States, and they are located outside of the US and are able to help communities that really need it the most. Helping the less fortunate getting them healthcare and other affordable treatments is making the world a better place. It is great that you love traveling because from the sounds of it, this job will require you to travel outside of the United States. The organization that I wrote about and this organization is somewhat the same as they are helping the less fortunate with shelter and food.
