Youth Villages

Youth Villages is a non-profit organization that helps troubled kids and their families. This organization is located in many states across the United States including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington D.C. They offer programs that include intensive in-home treatment, residential treatment, foster care, adoption, transitional living, specialized crisis services and mentoring. I am interested in this organization because I have a strong desire to work with kids. I also love how their focus is to help keep families together and to build stronger relationships. In America there are thousands of kids being raised by the state. However, this company believes that more than half of these children can live at home with their families safely with the right support. This company is also very supportive of their employees because they will pay %100 for their employees to continue their education in grad school. This is also an extremely important factor that made this company stick out to me. Not only do they help families and children in need, they also give back to their employees. One drawback about this company is there is potential for relocation. They do have an organization in Tampa; however most of their starting out positions are offered in Tennessee and Georgia. I believe that this is a wonder company and would love to potentially become an employee.

  1. This sounds like a wonderful organization to research. Like you, I to would love to work with children or be in an environment that deals with children. The part that most interests me with Youth Villages would be the specialized crisis services and also the mentoring. The mentoring sounds like it would be similar to the Big brother and Big sisters group. I could really see working for Youth Villages. A huge benefit is that there is a location in Florida, which is potentially where I would like to work. A down fall to this organization would be if there were no openings in Florida. Like you said in your post, a lot of starting positions are located in Tennessee and Georgia. Overall this sounds like a great potential employer to work for.
